Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka With Love Patch

Updated: Mar 21, 2020

About This Game Take a look behind Irony Curtain in this satirical point-and-click inspired by the best works of LucasArts and Daedalic Entertainment! Experience the totalitarian Matryoshka through the eyes of Evan – a low-ranking, goofy journalist involuntarily pulled right into the middle of an espionage stand-off between two powers. Jump into the wacky spy adventure, uncover secrets of the bizarre communist country (and the powerful capitalist empire!), witness a story full of unpredictable twists and turns, and discover the true agenda of the mysterious Supreme Leader! What business might the loving father of the Matryoshkan nation have with a lowly, capitalistic pen-pusher?Why suddenly lift the Irony Curtain and welcome a stranger into Matryoshka? And why is there an alligator in the middle of the bathroom?!An original setting: fictional Cold War era – alternate reality unbound by historical accuracy, and the communistic Matryoshka full of people who work all the possible angles to navigate this illogical, odd country.Inspired by classic adventure games – but better. No dream-logic, no pixel hunting. No-nonsense. Pure point and click fun.The Spy Intrigue – sleeper spies, stolen secrets and world-domination plots wrapped up in layers of humor.Quirky characters – Meet the mysterious Leader ruling Matryoshka with an irony fist, the clueless and guilible Evan, the brave and witty Agent Anna and the notorious Minister of Propaganda... Do it your way – some of the puzzles are non-linear and can be solved in two or more different ways. 21 hand-painted locations – that look surprisingly better than their original inspirations. 1,951 cleverly sneaked-in easter eggs – some of them punishable by political imprisonment. Music score as grand as Matryoshka itself - music by the state composer Arkadiusz Reikowski (Layers of Fear, My Brother Rabbit) with Main Theme by Peter McConnell (Monkey Island, Grim Fandango)Full voice-over – in English, and subtitles in Polish and German.A 5-year plan – that no one ever hoped to achieve, and neither should you. 6d5b4406ea Title: Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with LoveGenre: Adventure, IndieDeveloper:Artifex MundiPublisher:Artifex MundiRelease Date: 16 May, 2019 Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka With Love Patch irony curtain from matryoshka with love. irony curtain from matryoshka with love steam. irony curtain from matryoshka with love download. irony curtain from matryoshka with love gameplay. irony curtain from matryoshka with love walkthrough. irony curtain from matryoshka with love review. irony curtain from matryoshka with love metacritic REVIEW OF FINISHED GAMEAs there was one big negative* for me and would affect some people (or they would like to know) I’m doing a full review. fyi re time I replayed it for my 1 ach I missed.Tech stuff – No profiles, only auto save (argh in a P&C especially with achs you need manual saves edit see dev response in future there will be some - great news) but there is a hotspot indicator (spacebar) which tells you in each scene what you can interact with. There is also a hint system (a hint not a solve) in each area which is the phone (or fortune teller in one scene). If you get more items or info use the phone again and it will give you a big clue with what you need to do to solve an objective. For those used to HOGs you will miss the diary that keeps info you find, here you will need a pen and paper. You will also have to remember your objectives. You won’t get lost, as there are at most about 3 scenes accessible to you at one time which is good as this game is not easy in parts but with the hotspot indicator and phone calls I did work out everything myself. This game isn’t one of the adventure games that plays like a HOPA (hidden object puzzle adventure) but without the hos, it’s a true ‘old fashioned’ point n click game, games you have to think with. There are puzzles and this is where I had problems. There are some puzzles you come across in HOGs, there are even a lot of the same kind ‘fast reaction’ type puzzles – shooting and stamping items are both the same, click on the correct item but you get about a couple of seconds for each item to move to it and I was OK with it. *But there is one puzzle (the bricklaying puzzle) that you have to play and get a good score to be able to proceed with the game. You can’t skip it (or any puzzle) and it is ridiculously tight regarding responses (it was for me). So, if you can’t move fast and accurately you will be stuck with a game that you can’t finish. A lot of people play these games because they are either older, or can’t move fast and/or like me have zero patience for arcade type games and expect logical work out puzzles that require effort. This puzzle doesn’t require any skill except either a good mouse, or being young or brought up/play a lot of arcade/timing games. If I want to play those type of games I’d play time management, shooting or arcade games but I don’t. There should at least be a skip button on it.The rest of the game though, was well thought out, really good gameplay and what you hope a P&C would be but sadly rarely is. I wouldn’t say the game was funny but was more amusing in its situation and the character’s naivety. For people that are good at or don’t mind timing things this game would be a near perfect P&C, ‘if only’ with that one puzzle, it would have been for me.N.B For HOG players that are used to ultra family friendly viewing, it’s not 100%, but nearly there. Maybe 1 and nearly 1 scene of swearing, and there was a weird innuendo quick sentence that I thought was so inappropriate as I think the person was supposed to be 7? (the person in the box in the metro station) but you could play this with kids around. It was nice for a refreshing change to have zero supernatural and just a nice straightforward story.Highly recommend if you like a lot of good thinking gameplay and don’t mind timing things, and a FYI for those that don’t like timing/reaction things.. Characters are cute, and the theme and story are funny. I love this game!. Really nice Point n' Click! Was enjoying it from start to finish. Finished it in one go and made a short second achievement run directly after that. The puzzles are balanced nothing too easy or too hard. Got stuck only one time and had to guess a bit (Damn password). Easily recommended.. A few hours into this game and I am very much enjoying myself! it is clever and funny. As someone who grew up in Communist Poland I must say I get an extra kick from all the historic references (e.g. the internationale playing in the hotel bedroom). Also, good job not being too dogmatic on either side of the iron curtain.Brawo druzyna Artifex Mundi!. I just finished this game and... Wow. I loved it! It was a perfect love letter to point and click games and I loved the overall theming. I did have a few glitchy-issues though! - i got stuck at the carnival and had to restart- make sure you leave all cell doors open!- the music from the record player looped and wouldnt stop until i closed and reopenedetc. So wait until there's a patch! But the game is super worth it and so much fun!. Something different from Artifex Mundi. A true Point & Click adventure made with a lot of care and with a touch of old fashioned Lucas Art humor. The graphics are cartoon like 2.5D bold and colorful. Completely voice acted.Solid recommendation for anyone who love Point & Click adventures. The puzzles are not too difficult for someone with experience in these sort of games. They might be a bit more difficult if you are only used to HOGs.Some of the minor cons of this title:Since there is no real hint system you might get stuck. (A common problem of any Point & Click.)There are bugs, although the most serious ones have been fixed with patches. There are no multiple save slots. The developers intended to have multiple save slots, but had to disable it for now because of game breaking problems. No lip sync.
